Myself: Good morning.

Rafi: Good morning.

Myself: How are you?

Rafi: I am good. What about you?

Myself: Me too. I am looking for you.

Rafi: Why?

Myself: I would like to discuss with you how to learn English.

Rafi: You know learning any language is not easy. It requires a great effort to learn any foreign language.

Myself: Would you please tell me some ways to learn English easily and effectively?

Rafi: By listening to English news and songs, by reading English newspapers and story books we can learn English.

Myself: Please tell me some other ways to learn English.

Rafi: You should find out someone who is very good at speaking to practice speaking with him. It will help you a lot to develop your speaking skills.

Myself: What about grammar?

Rafi: Yes, you must have the knowledge of grammar to have accuracy at the time of speaking and writing.

Myself: What about vocabulary?

Rafi: By going through English newspapers regularly you can enrich your stock of vocabulary that will help you to learn English fruitfully.

(Dialogue-2): Between two friends about how to learn English

Suppose, you are Mahtab. Rafsan is your close friend. Both of you are high school students. You are very weak in English and want to learn English. Rafsan is very good at English. Now write a dialogue between you and your friend Rafsan about how to learn English.

Answer:

Mahtab: Good afternoon, Rafsan.

Rafsan: Good afternoon.

Mahtab: How is your day going?

Rafsan: I am having a pretty good day. How was your exam?

Mahtab: Not so good. You know I am not good at English. I am weak in grammar. And so, I can’t write correct English sentences.

Rafsan: So sad. You should give more time to learn English.

Mahtab: Please give me some suggestions to learn English easily.

Rafsan: You know learning any language is not easy. Actually, there is no shortcut to learn English. You have to read and practice a lot to learn English and to overcome your weakness in grammar.

Mahtab: Would you please tell me some ways to learn English?

Rafsan: You have to be familiar with the basic grammatical rules of the English language. You also should increase your English vocabulary.

Mahtab: But the problem is I memorize and forget the rules of grammar.

Rafsan: You forget the rules of grammar because you memorize without understanding. Practice grammar through examples. Contextual grammar practice will help you to be good at grammar. You must have the knowledge of grammar to have accuracy at the time of speaking and writing.

Mahtab: What about vocabulary?

Rafsan: By reading English newspapers and story books we can enrich our vocabulary. This is the easy and perfect way of learning vocabulary.

Mahtab: Would you please tell me the technique for learning vocabulary?

Rafsan: Simple technique. But you have to work hard. Pick a news topic from the newspaper and then underline the unknown words. Find the meaning of the words from the dictionary.

Mahtab: Will this technique help me to enrich my vocabulary?

Rafsan: Yes. Learning vocabulary in a real context is the right way of enriching vocabulary. You will never forget the meaning of the vocabulary and will be able to use the vocabulary in your real-life conversation.

Mahtab: Please tell me some more ways to learn English.

Rafsan: Make a group to practice speaking. Speaking English with someone else will help you to learn to speak in the English language. Watch English news regularly to develop your listening skills.
