(Letter-2): To a friend in Canada describing about Bangladesh
Suppose, you are Anika a Bangladeshi citizen. After completing your studies at the University of Toronto, you returned to Bangladesh. Now you are a software engineer in an international business farm in Dhaka. Amelia was your best friend during your studies at the University of Toronto. Both of you write letters to each other regularly. In her last letter, Amelia wanted to know about Bangladesh. Now write a letter to Amelia describing Bangladesh in your own words.
Answer:
April 30, 2024
Dhaka, Bangladesh
Dear Amelia,
How is everything? How is Toronto?
It’s been a long time since I saw you face to face. I miss you and the favorite campus of Toronto University always.
In your last letter, you expressed your interest in the geographical and natural features of Bangladesh. You also expressed your interest in traveling to Bangladesh and that’s why you wanted to know about the communication system of Bangladesh.
Undoubtedly Bangladesh is one of the most beautiful countries in the world because of its geographical position.
In our country, you will see mountains, oceans, forests, horizons of green crop fields, flowers, birds, rivers, boats, beautiful villages, and so on geographical and natural attractions that will fascinate you a lot.
Now I will tell you about the development of the communication system in Bangladesh. Though Bangladesh is a developing country our communication system improved a lot in the past years. We have metro rail in our capital city. Padma Bridge has eased communication between Dhaka and the southern part of Bangladesh. Whenever you visit Bangladesh, we will make a train journey from Dhaka to Khulna using the Padma Bridge. The journey will take just four hours because it is a high-speed train. Even the train runs at a hundred miles speed while crossing the Padma River over the bridge.
Reaching Khulna, we will roam around the beautiful Khulna city. Khulna is my native city. We will also visit Sundarbans, the biggest mangrove forest in the world. Khulna is famous for shrimp and crab farming. We will visit some shrimp farms. The honey of Sundarbans is world famous. “Faluda” is a special dessert of Khulna which is so delicious. We will enjoy the honey and Faluda. I will give a few liters of honey with you so that your family members in Canada can taste the honey of Bangladesh.
While returning to Dhaka from Khulna we will use the river way to see the beautiful rivers of Bangladesh and enjoy the river journey. Our steamer will come to Dhaka from Khulna via Barishal. Distance from Dhaka to Khulna via Barishal is about 300 kilometers. On this long river route, we will cross the rivers Rupsha, Kirtonkhola, Meghna, Padma, and several other lovely rivers. It will be a 24-hour journey. So, you will get the opportunity to enjoy the heavenly beauty of Bangladeshi rivers both in day and night. In daylight, you will see the pleasing view of rivers, green trees on both sides of the rivers, a wonderful view of fishermen catching fish in the rivers, and many more. If you are lucky you may enjoy a moonlit night on the river.
We will also visit Rangamati and Bandarban two hill districts of Bangladesh. There you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the hills. Then we will visit Coxs Bazar to see the largest sea beach in the world. Everywhere we will taste the food of that area.
During your stay in Bangladesh, we will plan out tours. Please keep in mind that because of the effects of climate change summer in Bangladesh has become hotter. This year the temperature in summer has exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. As you are a citizen of a cold country you should visit Bangladesh during winter. If I mention the particular time you should come to Bangladesh in January.
Amelia, I tried to inform you about Bangladesh in a few words. You will know more about Bangladesh when you will visit our small but beautiful country.
Waiting for your arrival in Bangladesh. Please reply as soon as possible.
Your loving friend
