Once there was an old farmer in a village. He had four sons. They used to quarrel among themselves. This made the farmer anxious. He wanted to teach them a lesson. So, one day he asked his sons to bring some sticks and a piece of rope…………………… The sons brought some sticks and a rope. Then the father told the eldest son to tie the sticks together with the rope and try to break the bundle of the sticks. He tried heart and soul but he could not break the bundle of the sticks.
Then the old man gave the bundle of the sticks to his second eldest son. He also tried to break the bundle of the sticks wholeheartedly but failed to break. Then one by one all the sons tried to break the sticks but all of them failed. Then the father untied the sticks and gave one stick to each son and told them to try to break the stick.
This time all of them could easily break their stick as there was a single stick to them. Then the father told them that if they remained united like the bundle of the sticks nobody would be able to defeat them. And if they are not united like a single stick they would be defeated everywhere.
The sons then realized their mistakes and started to live together unitedly and happily.
(Story-2): Unity is Strength
Once there lived an old farmer and his four sons in a village. The sons of the farmer used to quarrel with one another always. The farmer was worried about his sons…………………………….
The farmer was worried about the future of his sons. As he was an aged and experienced person he knew that if his sons do not remain united they will fall in danger. So he decided to make them understand the importance of unity.
One day the farmer called his four sons and his wife. Whenever they came to him, the farmer told his sons to bring some sticks and a rope. His sons left the place and after a while, they brought some sticks and a rope. They gave the sticks and the rope to their father.
The farmer tied the sticks with the rope. He gave the bundle of sticks to his first son and requested him to break the bundle. The son tried heart and soul to break the bundle but could not. Then the farmer gave the bundle to his second son and told him to break the bundle. The second son tried seriously but could not break the bundle. The third and fourth sons also tried to break the bundle but could not.
Then the farmer untied the bundle and gave one stick to one son. The farmer told his sons to break the stick. The sons easily broke the stick belonging to their hand.
Now, the farmer told his sons that they are like that bundle of sticks. If they are united nobody will be able to break or harm them. But if they are divided or alone like a single stick people will easily be able to ruin or harm them.
From the incident, the four sons of the farmer understood that unity is strength.
