A Study Tour Paragraph:
The study tour is a part and parcel of our formal education. This is one of the activities of co-curricular or extracurricular activities. We all know that co-curricular activities help students achieve the comprehensive development of different skills.
Through study tours, students get the practical experience of visiting and seeing any famous historical or geographical place. They may read about that place from their book. But mere reading cannot affect their subconscious mind.
By visiting a place physically people know the unknown and see the unseen. So, a study tour is very much effective for the students to achieve effective knowledge about a particular important place.
Last Friday the students of class eleven of our college went on a study tour. We selected Sonargaon as the destination for our study tour. Sonargaon was once the capital of the undivided Bengal. Isa Khan was the famous ruler of Sonargaon.
Our teachers were with us. We hired four modern and luxurious buses. Two for boys and two for girls. At 7.00 AM we started our journey toward Sonargaon from our college campus. As it was a holiday so the traffic on the street was normal. Sonargaon is not very far from Dhaka. It is only 35 kilometers away from Dhaka. So, we reached at Sonargaon at 8.30 AM.
Reaching Sonargaon we got down from the bus. Our teachers made several groups of students under the guidance of certain teachers to maintain discipline. The team leader of our group was our Bengali teacher Tamanna Miss. She took us to a nearby restaurant to have breakfast. Then we went to visit the Sonargaon Folk Art & Craft Museum. Our famous painter Joynul Abedin established this Museum in the year 1975. This museum is also known as Lok Shilpa Jadughar. We saw many unique collections of Bangladeshi culture and the rural life of Bangladeshi people.
Then we went to visit the famous Panam Nagar. This is an abandoned city. Once rich people lived in this city. We saw the beautifully decorated old buildings. Our teacher told us the history of the city. We became nostalgic hearing her excellent and vivid description.
It was lunchtime. We had our lunch at a local restaurant. We were lucky because on that day there was a function for folk songs on the premises of the museum. The local administration arranged the function. Some famous folk song singers across Bangladesh sang some excellent songs. We all enjoyed the function.
It was time to return home. At 4.00 PM our bus started running toward Dhaka. At 5.30 PM we reached our college campus. It was an excellent study tour. We really could enrich our knowledge by visiting Sonargaon. We could see the unseen and know the unknown.
